A strong general UTV transport setup uses appropriately rated straps connected to the manufacturer-designated front and rear tie-down points. Four corner connections are commonly recommended, but they are not a universal rule for every UTV, trailer, or jurisdiction. Choose UTV tie-down straps by evaluating working load limit, fully loaded vehicle weight, trailer and anchor capacity, strap routing, and attachment method. Working load limit—not maximum breaking strength - is the rating to use when planning the system.
Follow the UTV, trailer, tow-vehicle, and strap manufacturers’ instructions. Requirements may differ by jurisdiction and private or commercial use.
Plan around the UTV’s actual transport configuration, not its model name alone. Start with the published weight for the specific model and year, checking whether it is dry or curb weight. Add fuel, cargo, and accessories not already included, such as a roof, windshield, winch, spare tire, or tools:

Confirm that the tow vehicle, hitch, trailer, tires, ramps, deck, and axles suit the resulting load. Strong straps cannot correct an overloaded trailer.
The right straps provide suitable working capacity, hardware, length, and routing for the complete setup. Evaluate:
WLL: Usable capacity during normal service
Width and length: Suitable fit without improvised extensions
Hooks and anchors: Compatible, fully engaged, and appropriate for the pull direction
Soft ties: Surface-protecting connections where the manufacturer permits them
Condition: No cuts, burns, severe abrasion, damaged stitching, or compromised hardware

This is not a universal rule. The correct configuration depends on the UTV, designated points, trailer, blocking, strap geometry, and applicable requirements.
WLL and breaking strength are not interchangeable. Breaking strength is a test-based failure threshold, not everyday usable capacity.

Attach straps only where approved for the specific model and year. No single frame, axle, suspension, bumper, or rack location suits every side-by-side.
Polaris generally advises using the frame or designated points and warns against suspension or axle connections. Tire bonnets may leave the suspension freer, but require compatible tires, deck hardware, routing, and manufacturer approval.
For E-track, verify the rail, installation, fittings, and routing. The TorkStrap E-Track adapter lists a 1,450-pound safe working load; PRO’s WLL does not transfer to the adapter or complete system.
Calculate loaded weight, verify all component ratings, and inspect the hitch, tires, lights, brakes, deck, and anchors.

Load slowly, center the UTV, and follow trailer instructions for positioning and tongue weight.
Remove the key, use the specified transmission position, and engage the parking brake. The brake supplements - not replaces - the straps.
Secure or remove loose roofs, windshields, doors, seats, cargo, tools, and accessories.
Consult the model-and-year manual and inspect every UTV point and trailer anchor.
Connect the approved front and rear points to separate anchors. Avoid sharp, hot, or moving parts.
Balance tension, keep webbing flat, seat hooks fully, and secure loose tails. Do not force a universal suspension-compression percentage.

Test from several directions. If the UTV moves independently, correct the geometry instead of merely adding tension.
Stop safely after the initial drive and inspect the system again after rough roads or major condition changes.

PRO includes a 24-inch soft tie. Its dynamic-tension design responds as a correctly secured load settles, but does not guarantee against movement or eliminate inspections.

Avoid these frequent securement errors:
Using breaking strength as usable capacity
Forgetting fuel, cargo, and accessories in the loaded weight
Using cut, frayed, burned, or chemically damaged straps
Using too few restraints to control movement
Attaching to an unsuitable UTV component
Assuming all UTVs have identical tie-down points
Using weak or poorly positioned trailer anchors
Leaving hooks partially seated
Allowing twisted webbing or unprotected sharp-edge contact
Overtightening or forcing excessive suspension compression
Leaving strap tails loose
Failing to secure roofs, windshields, doors, tools, and cargo
Treating the parking brake as the securement system
Failing to recheck after departure
After each trip, inspect, clean, dry, and store cargo straps correctly so damage is easier to identify before the next use.
